Oh reeeallly -- sure....yeah, right....that phrase is so canned it has become synonymous with bullshit. Resigning to write, teach, go back to Texas....and SPEND MORE TIME WITH FAMILY.....lets see...Andrew is away at college...and hmmm who knows where his second wife Darby is.
This is not unlike the claim of "losing" almost four years worth of email. Sheesh.
Good article on the topic written well before this little event:
How stupid do they think we are? He's probably taking on some other important strategic role for "the party" to be announced soon....or not to be announced at all. Perhaps he will go back to the fraudulent campaigning practices of his youth (and perhaps later years.)
My favorite Wikipedia entry about Karl is:
In the fall of 1970, Rove used a false identity to enter the campaign office of Democrat Alan J. Dixon, who was running for Illinois State Treasurer, and stole 1000 sheets of paper with campaign letterhead. Rove then printed fake campaign rally fliers promising "free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing", and distributed them at rock concerts and homeless shelters, with the effect of disrupting Dixon's rally (Dixon eventually won the election). Rove's role would not become publicly known until August 1973. Rove told the Dallas Morning News in 1999, "It was a youthful prank at the age of 19 and I regret it."
No....wait........I like this one too:
Rove has been accused of using supposed pollsters to call voters to ask such things as whether people would be "more or less likely to vote for Governor Richards if [they] knew her staff is dominated by lesbians." During the race, a regional chairman of the Bush campaign was quoted criticizing Richards for "appointing avowed homosexual activists" to state jobs. Only circumstantial evidence links Rove to the push-polling.
But .........it gets better!!
During the bitterly-contested 2000 Republican primary, allegations were made that Rove was responsible for a South Carolina push poll that used racist innuendo intended to undermine the support of Bush rival John McCain: "Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?"

Wow...it is really hard to pick a favorite....

I also agree with John Edwards' reply to this situation: "good riddance."

1 comment:
My favorite wishful story floatin' in the ether is that Rove's departure has something to do with Larry Flynt's announcement that his "investigation" into sex-scandal-tainted politicos, had unearthed a really "big" name - one that even "Surprised" him! Can I get an "Amen?" How 'bout just an "E-I-E-I-O?"
Aw, c'mon, I can dream, can't I?
