1.) Child Abuse--12 year olds are being made to work 70 hours per week to make the Olympic souveneer stuff. Forced child labor was being used at 4-major factories making Olympic clothing to be sold in the 2008-games. Actually 4-companies were cited for labor violations for forcing 12-year olds to work in factories making products with the above Olympic logo, with those children being paid 15-dollars a week for a 70-hour work week. I do plan to advise those in my house who think it is unfair that they have to clean their room of what their life would be like if they lived in China.
2.) Home Destruction -- The Beijing Olympic committee forced 1.6-million residents out of their homes, flat out destroying these homes, shoddy and poor though they may have been, taking their land to put up Olympic facilities in three parts of the city.
3.) Civil Rights--Why isn't anyone paying attention to China's continued oppression of citizens??? This highlighted by the Tiananmen Square showdown between a tank and a student. Questions are being very appropriately being raised about the IOC's social responsibility globally and about their tolerance of the way Beijing is preparing for the games. It is also being asserted that they will round up and imprison any citizen who dares protest at the "games."
I'm sure there will be more.........

PBS has a great program called China From the Inside. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about China, and in particular, its ruling Party.
